Rab Noakes

Do You See The Lights? - Rab's first album, released in 1970, is now available on CD. Please order through the Neon site or call James on 0141 429 6366 or mail@go2neon.com.

Do You See The Lights? is also available to download from the Neon shop.  The album was made available online on the 25th January, on the 38th anniversary of the original recording session. Due to the conditions of the licence deal the album is downloadable in full only - I'm afraid individual tracks are not available.

Unlimited Mileage, the latest album from Rab & The Varaflames is now available. It features a collection of songs spanning a wide timeframe recorded with two separate Varaflames line-ups.

You can hear sample tracks by clicking on the Jukebox link at the top of the page, and it can be purchased online from the Neon shop.

A press release for Unlimited Mileage is available to download by clicking here (PDF format).

RAB NOAKES HOUSE CONCERTS

We've had a good uptake on Rab Noakes house concerts, with a number of bookings across the country. If anyone is interested in hosting such a thing (it is literally a concert in your living room) then please make email contact to mail@go2neon.com or call Stephy or James on 0141 429 6366 - we’ll discuss it further.

Radio

Asian Overground (BBC Radio Scotland, Saturdays, 1805 -1900 from 31st May to 26th July)

Don't miss the final two editions of this year's Asian Overground on Saturday 19th & 26th July.  Rupa Mooker presents the country’s first national Asian music show, featuring the freshest mix of Asian music from around the world and closer to home.

A lawyer by profession, Rupa is a rising star in the world of radio who has built up considerable presentation experience both at BBC Radio Scotland and on the only full-time Asian station in Scotland, Glasgow's Awaz FM.

In the last six years, Asian music in Scotland has developed into a diverse and exciting mix of traditional and western sounds. Asian Overground reflects that diversity with a fresh mix of Asian music from Bhangra to hip-hop flavoured reworkings of traditional songs and all points in between.

Asian Overground’s nine-episode run commenced on 31st May and will air every Saturday at 6.05pm on BBC Radio Scotland until 26th July.

Brand New Country (BBC Radio Scotland, Fridays 2005-2200, rpt Sundays 2200-0000)

On 18th July, Brand New Country will be dedicating the entire show to a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Byrds' groundbreaking album 'Sweetheart of the Rodeo'.  Rab Noakes will join Bryan Burnett in the studio to discuss the album's influence.

Also appearing on Brand New Country will be Kim Richey on the 25th July.

As the current series of Brand New Country draws to a close on 15th August, our review of the highlights of Country and Americana from the last fifteen years continues in our Fifteen Years in Fifteen Weeks feature.

Check out the BNC website for playlists and our gig guide, and remember that you can listen again to each show for up to seven days on the BBC iPlayer.
